East Iberian

This very popular tour enters Spain through the Pyrenees at Andorra and heads south east through the mountains to the stunning coast north of Barcelona. After an all too brief, but doubtless fun filled, time in Barcelona we continue south through  historic Tarragona towards the walled and ancient town of Albarraccin.  The tour then winds itself further south through seemingly endless mountains, and an ever increasing number of olive groves, towards Mojacar and Europe's desert in Almeira, near the Cabo de Gata National Park. This area was made famous by The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and numerous other so-called spaghetti westerns, as well as by being the back drop to much of Lawrence of Arabia, and is fascinating with its beauty, desolation and relative lack of visitors. Indeed, riders are regularly surprised by the fact that Spain does have mile long sandy beaches that are very quiet, if not deserted, at the height of summer. From this point the tour turns west through the majesty of the Sierra Nevada - one of the only places where you can ski in the morning and swim in the sea by afternoon. The tour pauses near Nerja and offers the riders the chance to visit Gibraltar before heading north to Granada. From here the tour heads towards home through Segovia, more mountains, more deserted and fabulous riding roads, more mountains, more fabulous roads and then the Picos de Europa - quiet extraordinarily beautiful mountains! Many riders like to take a ferry from here at Santander but for those who do not the tour continues through France and the Bordeaux wine region before arriving at our northern French port. Considering the distance covered this can be a relatively easy ride particularly if you take the ferry option either to or from, or indeed both, Spain - the weather is mostly perfect, the roads excellent and the scenery breathtaking.

West Iberian

Another popular tour and our favourite. This tour enters Spain to the west of Andorra at San Sebastian and spends some time exploring the beautiful Picos de Europa mountains before heading south into northern Portugal. Entering Portugal at Braganca the tour is surrounded once again by mountains and vineyard coated valleys and gorges as we travel deep into the Port region. This is a stunningly beautiful region. Littered with little villages and countless roads disappearing through a myriad of gorges it is not unknown for the tour to get a little lost! As the tour travels further south it enters the Alentejo and once again we are surrounded by countless vineyards and historic towns. Notable amongst these is the World Heritage site at Evora where the tour stops before heading on to the quiet western end of the Algarve and the Cape St Vincent National Park. We have had tours were no one wants to leave this part of the Algarve - making for a long a speedy ride home - but we plan for at least a couple of days rest which offers you the chance to explore the mountains to the north, or the multitude of small coves with deserted beaches so common west of  Lagos. Lisbon awaits as we head home and once again the tour allows time for exploration of this great city. The ride north takes a route through Salamanca and Cuidad Rodrigo before entering the Picos de Europa once again. Riders can opt to take the ferry home at Santander or continue the tour, as with the East Iberian above, and travel back through France. This is also a surprisingly easy tour on rider and bike if you take the ferry option to Spain. Once again the weather is mostly perfect (although it can become very hot {40C+} at the height of summer around Evora), the roads surprisingly very good and very quiet, and the scenery stunningly beautiful.
