Greece and the East Tour
This tour is our longest in Europe. The tour heads east through France and Southern Germany towards the historic centres of Prague, Vienna and Budapest. From here the tour turns south through Romania and Bulgaria and although on this stage the roads are not up to the standard of western and northern Europe, the scenery and the cultural 'difference' make for a deeply memorable riding experience.- riders have often note that they truly feel that they are 'on the road' during this stage and essentially having a real adventure! The tour then enters northern Greece and we spend a number of days exploring this extraordinary and beautiful country. The bikes enable us to make the most of the visit and we see places 'normal' tourists never can. From Greece the tour either turns north along the Dalmation coast or takes the ferry to Italy for the ride through Pompeii, Rome and the ever beautiful Tuscany. The choice of return route is dependent upon advice given by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office about travel in/through Albania and Kosovo. Recently we have used the Italy route which is more than sufficient compensation for missing the Dalmatian Coast which, incidently, can be horrendously busy, in places, during the summer months. For the final legs of the tour we explore the Italian and French Alps, crossing into to France near Mount Blanc and then making the way north through Dijon towards home which by this time will feel a strange and distant place. A truly memorable tour but one which does make some demands on both rider and bike.
